Anchors Fundamentals for Rock Climbing and Canyoning
Description:
Clean and efficient rope skills combined with evaluating, and rigging common anchors safely is a skill all team members should posses. With a multitude of both natural and artificial anchors encountered in both canyoning and rock climbing, understanding the principals of location, construction, and proper rigging is key. This workshop will focus on teaching you how to evaluate, construct, and move your group safely through basic anchors commonly seen on rock and when canyoning.We use a hands on approach that allows each individual to practice the techniques presented

What Do We Provide:
The course fee includes the use of all required technical gear this includes harness and helmets. Participants are more than welcome to bring any gear they may already have.
What Should Participants Bring:
Personal gear, lunch and clothing. Weather can vary greatly in the outdoor especially at the beginning and the end of the season. The following list covers a wide range of possibilities. Should sunny warm conditions be forecast some items may be unnecessary. Remember that weather can change fast so even if the day starts out sunny you may still need rain gear in the afternoon.

Course Location:
We base our Courses out of the Canmore and surrounding area. Canmore is approximately one hour west of Calgary.
Meeting Time & Location:
Meeting time is at 8:00 am at the Heart Creek Trail Parking lot. (Please check the directions and map outlined below); or at a predetermined location in Canmore. After meeting your instructor all participants will shuttle together to the outdoor classroom location for the course.

8:00 am: Meet and greet. From the meeting location we drive approximately 30 min to our training location into the heart of the Rocky Mountains.
8:30 am - 5:00 pm: We cover various technical hands on aspects of basic anchors and rigging including:
Dangers and safety & understanding and evaluating risk
